What is happiness? It’s a question that has been asked throughout time, but its answer remains a mystery. We all have our definition of what happiness is and what it looks like. The Four Noble Truths

It includes both the suffering we experience from the things we don’t want, such as pain, sickness, and loss; and the suffering we experience from trying to hold on to things that are impermanent, such as youth, health, and possessions.

2. The truth of the cause of suffering (samudaya): The cause of our suffering is our attachment to things that are impermanent and subject to change.

3. The truth of the end of suffering (nirvana): There is an end to suffering. Nirvana is a state of complete peace and freedom from all Suffering.

4. The truth of the path to the end of suffering (magga): There is a path that leads from Suffering to Nirvana. This path is called The Noble Eightfold Path and it consists of the right understanding, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration.

The Eightfold Path

A set of rules for living a moral and ethical life is known as the Eightfold Path. It is the fourth of the Four Noble Truths, which are the foundation of Buddhist teaching. The path consists of eight factors: right understanding, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration.

right understanding: understanding that all beings are connected and that our actions have consequences for others

right thought: thinking about what is good and beneficial for ourselves and others

right speech: speaking kindly and truthfully

right action: behaving in ways that are helpful and not harmful

right livelihood: earning a living in a way that does not cause suffering for others

right effort: trying to improve our thoughts and actions

right mindfulness: paying attention to our thoughts and actions so that we can make positive changes

right concentration: focusing our minds on positive things so that we can achieve inner peace

The Myths About Happiness

Myth #1: Money Can Buy Happiness
